Helmut Leitner, from Graz, Austria. I'm 54, married, two children. I've always liked mathematics and natural sciences. I studied chemistry at the Technical University of Graz and did my diploma and doctorate thesis about computer simulation of molecular systems. Later I turned to IT completely. I'm working as an independent software developer and IT consultant. I consider myself a wiki and pattern pioneer.

pages I commented on
pages in my backlog to ponder about
- IncompleteProof - what makes it more than a hypothesis of a causal relationship?
- GuardedDivideAndConquer - can it be seen as a general pattern (like a stop-loss-limit on the stock market)?
- AdaptTheProblem - change the perception of the problem to bring it nearer to a solution
open questions
- what does "killerwords" or "killer words" mean?
- Is "killer words" from FindingKillerWords basically identical to "a valid proof"?
- is it maybe meant as a "proof about proofs"?
- or is it some unexplained local jargon?
things I miss in this wiki
- a homepage category
- (maybe a system of categories)
- at sometime there should be a FAQ page
- at sometime there should be a GlossaryPage?
- persistency of pages, page names come and go.
- complete page versioning
- immediate page deletion (deleted pages clutter the page index)
what I dislike
notes towards pattern theory
Properties:
- BOUNDARY property
- NOTE: according to pattern theory: one of the fifteen properties that optionally constitute living systems. BOUNDARY is less an element of separation, but it is considered a space for specific interactions / exchange and a place for special life chances
- the boundary between the author and outside contributors (implemented in this wiki)
- the boundary between the world of mathematics and the everyday real world of people
- e. g. in terms of language
- in terms of general thinking or strategic patterns
- STRONG CENTER property
- there is the author: NathanielThurston
- there is the promised product, a useful theory about problem solving and strategic thinking

Helmut, my apologies for the changing nature of the page names. I often find that there is a stage in my thinking about a problem where it is "pre-verbal". In this case (it's one of the most challenging problems I've attempted), the result is that the "pre-verbal" stage seems to be ending gradually, causing concept names to fluctuate. Hopefully, the process will end with a meaningful and stable collection of names.
Also, I think there's a conflict of interest in evidence. My main focus is in drafting something that meets the criteria for a Ph.D. thesis in mathematics, and I get a strong sense that I'm already pushing the boundaries by discussing techniques rather than following the traditional course of presenting a proof. I think I must avoid changing names in the existing language until I reach the milestone of approval by my thesis committee.
